Liu Bolin is a contemporary Chinese artist known for his photographs in which he blends into the landscape to better reveal the contradictions of contemporary society. He covers his body in paint to become one with the scenery in his photographs. This performance, rich in symbolism, lies at the intersection of photography, visual art, body art, and living sculpture. His works exist at the boundary between photography and performance art. While he often chooses natural, urban, or cultural landscapes, he doesn't hesitate to orchestrate elaborate scenes. His work over the past ten years has explored four main themes: politics and censorship, Chinese tradition and culture, consumer society, and freedom of the press.
