A retrospective of the work of Arthur Russell . He is now considered one of the great songwriters of the 20th century. Arthur Russell holds a special place in the history of dance music. Admired by his peers, including Philip Glass and Todd Terry , for his solo work but also for forming the groups Dinosaur L and Loose Joints in the 1980s and co-founding the label Sleeping Bag Records (Mantronix, Larry Levan, Patrick Adams, EPMD, Joyce Sims, Todd Terry, etc.). He died of AIDS in 1992, leaving behind a unique body of work straddling dance music and the avant-garde. This compilation brings together his classics as well as rare tracks, accompanied by detailed liner notes.
