In February 2014, JR proposes the project unframed in Baden-Baden. He sticks on the walls archival images linked to the history of the city and thus illustrates in the urban space, the history of Franco-German friendship. Citizens of the city were invited in advance to participate and provide period photos and other personal documents. Baden Baden played a pivotal role between Germany and France. The hesitant rapprochement of the two countries, hereditary enemies for decades, becomes through the collages, literally palpable.
